The world is currently experiencing increasing urban property prices, decreasing property sizes and greater opportunities for individuals to travel, work, and study abroad. In response to these issues, there is a trend towards a growth in the urban nomadic lifestyle.
From this research, I identified the bed, a sleeping surface, as the most vital single item of furniture for the urban nomad and for those in a small space living situations. There is no other single item which performs the multitude of tasks required; the bed can act as a bedroom, living room and study, providing a space equally adaptable to sleeping, relaxation, work, and socialising.
The design is a easily transportable bed structure that is both lightweight and durable, yet retains a sense of permanence when set up in a dwelling.
