At this year’s Milan design week, graduates from Design Academy Eindhoven exhibited a series of material explorations as opposed to finished products.
The exhibition sought to contrast the focus on finished works usually seen at Milan exhibitions, creating a conversation about the steps that come before. It allowed the designers to demonstrate abstract early ideas in a way they hoped would result in new work and collaborations.
“Envisions” was said to reflect a growing trend among young designers preferring to be seen as strong process thinkers and to work for bigger companies rather than becoming superstar soloists. See more of the exhibit here.
