On 22 April, twenty five 3rd year product design students presented their final designs developed during a 6-week project to improve walking, cycling and public transport services in the area surrounding Auckland Hospital, the Domain and Grafton Station. The designs were presented to an assessment panel made up of representatives from Auckland Transport, Auckland District Health Board, Auckland Council, AUT and transport advocacy groups Generation Zero, transportblog and Cycle Action Auckland. The presentation session and the project were both a resounding success. The assessment panel plan to meet again in the coming weeks to discuss the designs and the opportunities to develop them further.
