The International Space Apps Challenge is an international hackathon event run in cities across the world. Run over 48 hours, the event presents participants with a range of challenges put forward by NASA giving them the opportunity to engage with space and its impacts on life on Earth. Challenges are categorised into four themes; Outer Space, Earth, Humans, and Robotics. You don’t need to be a space expert to register just ready to collaborate and come up with creative solutions.
AUT product design has had a strong presence in previous years, and we’re encouraging you to get involved in this years event. The main event will run from the 11th-12th of April based in AUT’s WG building. Presentations and judging will take place on Monday the 13th of April. For those who are interested there will also be a planning session held on Sunday the 29th of March at 2pm. This will be an opportunity to meet fellow participants, form or join teams, choose and discuss challenges, and learn about the format of the 48 hour weekend. The planning session is optional but highly recommended.
As well as being heaps of fun, this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved with a project of global significance and get a NASA project into your portfolio.
