Welcome to Product Design 2014! With the new year comes new faces. We have a great bunch of first years, as well as some new faces in the postgraduate class – let’s make them feel at home!
The first semester has just began but there’s already a lot to be excited about in the department. To get in the spirit of their project with Kathmandu, our second years began the year with a camping trip to Wenderhom Regional Park. Our third years have started an exciting project with Auckland Transport by getting out on Auckland’s rail network to better understand how they can improve the design or experience of rail in Auckland. And there’s a huge range of new and exciting projects underway in our postgraduate years. We have a number of students in both the Honours and Masters year working with the Auckland District Health Board (ADHB) to improve various aspects of the healthcare experience. These are all really great opportunities to work with industry partners so make the most of it!
The new and exciting research collaboration between AUT and the ADHB – The Design for Health and Wellbeing Lab – is taking shape both here in the department and up at Auckland Hospital. Check out the DHWLab blog to stay up to date with all the exciting projects and events that will be happening over the course of the year.
Work hard, have fun, challenge the status quo, and let’s make 2014 Product Design’s best year yet!
