4G iPad minis for year three students

In partnership with Vodafone New Zealand, AUT is pleased to offer students in year three of the Bachelor of Design Product Design programme the use of an IPad Mini 4G device for the 2013 academic year. This will include access to e-mail and the Internet via the AUT wireless network and via 4G with data supplied by Vodafone.

Students will be asked to utilize device as part of your studio work. The first project involves the use of Design Thinking methodologies to enhance the experience of bus patrons (users) in Auckland. This project is undertaken with support form Auckland Transport and MR Cagney.

The project is part of research to examine how design education can be augmented and enhanced through the use of mobile social media technologies. The focus is upon designing ‘authentic’ learning experiences using mobile social media and devices.
